Corporate Lesson by Sultan Mirza in ' Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai '

This is one of the few write ups I like the most - from the personal kitty ,thought to share here today.
Jab dost bana kar kaam ho sakta hai to dushman kyon banaye ' ; quips Ajay Devgan as Sultan Mirza in ' Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai
An Indian blockbuster movie - I was watching one fine night and got to learn the finest corporate lesson of making more and more friends at workplace......From ' colleagues ' to ' comrades ' .

The strong message in his punch lines emphasizes the need to develop and maintain " good - friendly relationship " and " making friends at workplace ".This makes the workplace enjoyable and the work environment more conducive to productivity. This drives his / her motivation, make the work atmosphere more friendly. The mantra of a happy work environment is to know each other reasonably well.Such a gesture would make our own work very easy and others comfortable while dealing with us.

In today's swiftly growing economy with immense competition, our performance is entirely depend on our ability to make  friends.  In such a scenario, we must strive and think as to how different segments  can create a win-win preposition for the organization and how all the functions can 'nurture' mutual respect for one other in the overall interest of the organization.

We have to be likable and for that we would need to work on our skills. Those small courtesy gestures, broader and open mindset, those mannerisms - cumulatively play a vital role in making our task easier and getting our work done in a smooth manner.

Of  all we have to be good human being and have consideration for the people we work with. They ONLY will take us long.Remember the value of a life is  measured by the lives it touches. Success does not happen in isolation. It is very always a participative and  collective process.

Happy Budding !!!

Change Is Rapid and Constant -  Learning From Google's Ever Changing Logos - ' Doodles '

The biggest learning I have derived from Google’s Logo is ' It keeps changing every now and than '.It has never been static - same. It keeps on evolving, imbibing new colors, designs, meanings and looks.

To me ' Change ' means a process of becoming different, especially better from yesterday .It means improve what we inherit.

Why Change ?
  • Since the world around us changes swiftly…irrespective of whether we choose or do not choose to change with it.
  • Also if we lack the ability to adapt and grow, our productivity will stall, stagnate, and finally die

Change offers following benefits
  1. Change makes us self-aware and help us focus better.
  2. Change prepares us for future .
  3. Change helps us to sustain, be competitive and grow against the wind.
  4. Change offers opportunities for innovation as Change is at the heart of innovation – no innovation happens without change.

Norman Vincent Peale (1898 - 1993) told that ' Change your thoughts and you change your world '

We have the power within us to create the life we want to live. We have the power to shape the world around us.

Change is rapid and constant and we are generally resistant to change as one is expected to leave his or her comfort zone. No  matter what we do – no matter how trickily we try and avoid it or resist it ,the change is bound to come your way in life. There is no life without change.

Be anytime ready for change as fortune favours the prepared mind.

Innovation - The Currency Of The Future

Innovation is an ancient art and at the same time it is the currency of the future. It is the most talked about and least understood area in all walks of life.Nothing is so good that it can not be made better.

What did Peter F. Drucker say about Innovation? He said “If you want something new, you have to stop doing something old”

To me Innovation means - designing and imagining a product – visualizing the next requirement which the customers would want to use in future.

Steve Jobs said “You can’t just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they’ll want something new “.

Innovation is all about changing the rules of game. It has to be continuously practiced. The importance of innovation is universally acknowledged and hence it is imperative to develop a culture which is conducive to innovation and influences the employees to produce creative ideas, products , services and solutions.

What fosters Innovation?
  • Creative leadership
  • Picking up the right talent
  • Believe in self and team
  • Developing a culture of innovation
  • Encouraging creativity, innovation and ideation
  • Giving freedom and empowerment
  • Designing reward strategies
  • Listening to the smallest idea
  • Enabling brain storming and thinking out of the box
  • Maximizing casual employee conversation
  • Ensuring constant employee engagement
It is understood that a sustainable life needs a sustainable innovation with greater focus on quality. Regardless of the industry, business enterprise that provide products or services need to persistently strive to innovate to gain and maintain what we call a competitive edge.

Think It Through !!!!
